Housing as a human right:
Recommendations for change

Course summary

Our national housing system, and the way it influences state, regional and local housing regulations and practices, should guarantee that housing is a fundamental human right. However, recent years have revealed the inadequacy of our housing systems to realise this end.

Housing insecurity in our region is being caused by a complex interplay of systemic, regulatory and policy measures. It is clear our housing system is not working for many people. In 2023, WHGNE conducted a series of community consultations to hear what locals in our region are particularly concerned about.

This course focuses on the recommendations for policy change and how we can drive systemic change to embed housing as a human right.
